Women's car insurance should reflect their safer driving
Fri, 05 Aug 2005
News that almost all British motorists break the speed limit while driving has been met with disbelief and disappointment. A recent survey conducted by Direct Line reveals that a staggering 94 per cent of motorists admit to speeding, while a third of 18 29 year olds admit to doing so on a regular basis. Respondents gave a number of reasons for their bad driving habits, but Direct Line said that the high numbers could be because many people are unaware that they are over the limit. Emma Holyer, a spokesperson for Direct Line, said: ""In todays high powered cars, its easy to lose concentration and go over the limits and it may be that many motorists are speeding without realising it." However, as other research has provided conclusive proof that female drivers are safer than their male counterparts, this figure is probably significantly smaller for women. As a result, female motor groups are calling for women drivers to pay reduced insurance premiums to reflect their competent driving abilities.
