Protection hungry customers should check their women's car insurance
Mon, 05 Sep 2005

Women are keen to find an insurance policy that will protect against broken hearts and gaining weight but they could be better off ensuring their current car insurance policy is up-to-date.

Research from high-street bank Abbey reveals that nine million UK adults would like to purchase a policy that would cover them against becoming involved with the wrong partner and one in five women would like to find insurance that would pay out if they started to gain weight.

However, women could be better off finding time to secure a competitive quote for car insurance rather than hoping to find a company willing to offer fantasy insurance policies. At present, it is estimated that three out of ten drivers have no car insurance cover and could risk prosecution as well as a huge bill if they are involved in a road accident.

"Our research provides a light-hearted insight into the national psyche and it’s not surprising that so many people said they worry about gaining weight or getting old," said Sue Wilkinson, head of health and protection insurance at Abbey.

She added: "On a more serious note, too many people are taking chances when it comes to the things we care most about in life. Arranging the right insurance needn’t be a hassle and could end up making all the difference during difficult times."
