Motorists enjoy musical drive time
Wed Aug 4 04
Motorists are favouring a blend of pop, classical music and R'n'B according to a new car insurance survey.
A study conducted by Sainsbury's Bank Car Insurance shows that a sizeable 13 per cent of drivers plump for classical music, with eight per cent opting for R'n'B.
The poll of 650 motorists showed that genres such as hip hop, heavy metal or rap were in the minority, with just one per cent choosing them for their journeys.
Ten per cent of those asked admitted that music could distract them when on the road, while five per cent said it could make them more aggressive.
Joanne Mallon, car insurance manager for SainsburyŐs Bank, commented: "In the majority of cases, it seems that music can have a positive impact on driving habits, but itŐs important not to abuse this."
