Get Car Quote

Less than seven quotes away from women's car insurance savings
Tue, 02 Aug 2005

Getting seven quotes could help women make significant savings on their annual car insurance policy.

Research by Swinton indicates drivers could save around £115.61 each by shopping around to find the best deal rather than just automatically renewing their current cover.

In particular, the study highlighted that male motorists shop around more than female drivers, obtaining 3.4 quotes compared with just 2.9 quotes obtained by women.

The report also found that it usually takes seven quotes to find the best deal, even though most motorists usually get just two before committing to a further 12 months.

Only nine per cent of drivers managed to gain seven quotes when their last policy ended and a staggering 21 per cent renewed without getting any other quotes.

"Our research clearly shows that it pays to shop around. Well over nine million motorists are still renewing with their current insurer or only obtaining one quote when they renew their cover, probably because they don’t have the time to contact the optimum number of insurers," said Andrew Jackson, marketing director for Swinton.

"Many of these people are needlessly paying over the odds for their car insurance."
