Good value women's car insurance highlighted as motoring costs soar
Mon, 23 May 2005

Rising fuel costs and falling car values mean that many motorists are finding it hard to justify keeping their car on the road. However, women are managing to secure value for money on insurance.

Traditionally, female motorists tend to drive cars with good fuel economy and often qualify for a reduced rate of road tax due to their vehicles smaller engine size.

These factors mean that insurance costs are often lower for women, compared to male insurance policies.

AA Motoring Trust director Bert Morris said: "Motoring costs still make up a major and unavoidable element of most people's disposable income, but it is possible to make significant savings.

"Major savings can be made in fuel costs by buying the most economical car in your price range - almost £600 a year on cars up to £10,000, and nearly £1,800 on cars between £20,000 and £30,000."
