Financial independence increases demand for women's car insurance
Mon, 20 Jun 2005
Women increasing their financial independence could also boost the female car insurance sector.
According to M&S Money, the last 20 years have seen a 47 per cent increase in the number of wholly financially independent women in the UK, who are keen to shop around to make sure their money is spent wisely.
The survey also discovered that women are more likely to control decisions over household bills such as insurance and utilities. The report found that 60 per cent more women than men make the decision on whether to sell or buy the family home as well being the main bill payers.
David MacKay, commercial director of Marks & Spencer Money, said: "We commissioned this report to understand better women's financial needs.
"The report shows that women have moved on significantly in the 20 years."
