Look around for female car insurance
Mon, 25 Apr 2005

Many female motorists could get a better car insurance deal if they shopped around.

A recent survey by Sainsbury's car insurance division discovered that many of the UK's drivers could reduce their annual premiums by £157 every year just by obtaining a second quote for cover.

The research discovered that a high number of motorists automatically renew their insurance with their current provider and fail to look to see if other insurers could provide cheaper cover.

"Some insurers entice motorists to take out their cover by offering very competitive premiums and then increase them substantially when it is time for the customer to renew their policy - even though their circumstances have not changed," said Joanne Mallon, car insurance manager at Sainsbury's Bank.

"Motorists need to keep a close eye on their premiums to make sure that they are competitively priced."
