Lax car park security highlights need for female car insurance
Mon, 25 Apr 2005
Lax security in UK car parks further highlights the need for adequate female car insurance.
A survey by online car retailer Jamjar Cars discovered that 30 per cent of car parks have no security measures at all, whilst nearly a third are guilty of providing inadequate lighting.
Shileen Fowler, from Hull, told Auto Express that her Volkswagen Golf was broken into in a supposedly 'safe' car park.
"I had been doing my Christmas shopping, and so specifically chose one which had signs up saying 24-hour security was in place with surveillance cameras," said Ms Fowler.
However, thieves still managed to smash the car's rear window and steal its contents and the so-called car park security turned out to be useless.
Ms Fowler explained: "I asked the car park staff for the video tape as evidence for the police, but was told the CCTV cameras didn't actually work."
