Don't also be devalued on women's car insurance
Tue, 08 Nov 2005
Women who are in control of the home and raising children are being undervalued, according to a new report. Research by Sainsbury's Bank estimates that the average "supermum" does around £17,407 of unpaid work each year meaning they are often undervalued and underinsured. It is hoped that women will realise their true value and ensure that they have adequate life and car insurance in place, so that if they are involved in an accident the rest of the family will be able to cope. "Women are increasingly returning to work whilst retaining the bulk of the responsibility for managing the home and raising the children," said David Pickett, life insurance manager, Sainsbury's Bank. "Unfortunately, the value of work around the home is often overlooked. Last year we found that mothers in full time work with children under the age of 18 are so busy they only have four hours a week to themselves," he added. Therefore specialist women's car insurance and life insurance companies could offer female consumers the best way of protecting against any unforeseen circumstances.
